Individuality

I'd like to take a minute and document some of the things each of my children are doing right now, so I will always remember what life was like at this time in our lives.

Let's start with the youngest....Jace. Little Jacey Poo.
Jace is the outgoing twin. He will tell you "HI" all day long. Even if he goes into another room, when he returns he always greets me with a big smile and a "HI"! We had some dirt put underneath our trampoline because it was yucky and mildewy from rain over the past year. The poor guy who had to unload each and every wheelbarrow full of dirt got greeted by Jace EVERY time he passed. AND it wasn't just once, it was at least 3 hi's at once...multiply that by each trip, I would've wanted to strangle Jace by that point. The gentleman just smiled and told him "hi" back each time.

Jace is so easy to read. If he's grumpy you can tell by his facial expressions. He's just started to pout his lip and hide his face if he's upset. He is VERY vocal now. He can repeat just about anything you tell him to. Somethings he repeats even if you don't want him to. He still gives the sweetest hugs (with a pat on the back) and will cry at nighttime if he doesn't get his last hug and kiss from me, Steve AND Brittney. He's such a little lover.

With all of that being said though, he also has the hottest temper. He can throw a fit like no one's business. He has a harder time than Cade with transition. He doesn't want anything that's fun to EVER end. He has a contagious giggle that you can not help but laugh at. He likes to tickle all of us and he actually thinks it is funnier than we do.

We play a game where we say "Jace is so sad.......now he's happy!". Jace can't even do the sad face (Cade definitely can) because he's always smiling!

Now on to Cade....

Cade is a momma's boy. He doesn't care what we do as long as we are together. He enjoys just sitting in my lap, snuggling with me, just ANY kind of physical contact with me. Don't get me wrong, he loves his daddy and grandparents too, but it's all about mama.

He isn't as outgoing as Jace, but he's coming along - thanks to school. When he gets upset and/or tired, he loves to get his binky. It's very comforting to him and I'm not ready to take it away from him.

Cade is the more mature twin. He may not talk as much as his brother, but he can definitely get his point across. He also understands when you explain things to him. I can tell him that we can't go outside until we put his shoes on and brush his teeth. He will then go into the bathroom to brush his teeth and bring me his shoes.

Now granted he is not a perfect child. He can also throw a good fit. Let's take today for example. He wanted to go bye-bye but we weren't going bye-bye until Daddy got home. He must have told me 100 times in an hour that he wanted to go bye-bye. I kept telling him not until daddy gets home, but he is a very strong headed child. VERY STRONG HEADED CHILD. He laid down on his stomach, kicking his feet and wailing on 2 different occasions. He even went into the naughty chair and when it was time to get out the first thing he said to me was "go bye-bye".

He is very picky about his food though. He needs to have his food either in the right bowl or in the wrapper just so. He loves to eat. Matter of fact, it's the one word that he says clear as day so there's never any confusion as to what he wants. He's an eater and can snack all day plus eat when it's mealtime.

He gives some sweet hugs and kisses too. His little overbite smile just melts my heart (and it constantly reminds me how much I'm going to have to fork over for orthodontic work down the road). He is a very facial little boy. He can do hilarious eyebrow looks, sad eyes and also happy faces. We have deemed any "attitude" looks as a "Cade look".

Then let's move onto my growing "little" girl Brittney. She is truly an adult trapped in a nine year old's body and always has been. I love that I can already spend quality "girl time" with her when the boys are asleep or special time on the weekends. She's more like Cade in the fact that she's a momma's girl. She loves to act silly and just be close to me. Whenever Steve is out of town, she's always right next to me in my bed.

She has a great group of friends, she's never had any problems making friends. I can't believe how much drama is involved with 9 year old little girls though. She has a friend or two that are the typical "Eddie Haskel" types. I can tell them from a mile away and unfortunately she has been dealing with one of them in particular since first grade. It's hard for me to see her upset by them. I know she'll have to deal with people just like this in life, but it just seems SO early! I just hope she's learned from our examples of what is the right and wrong way to treat people.

I can't wait to see all 3 of them grow up into confident, loving and independent adults. I think we have a good start.

What a great post! I think it's so important to remember all the stages our children go through. I hope I have a wonderful relationship with my girls too.
